Assignment Description

Hello all and welcome to your online literature class :)

As some of you know, we will have a poetry recitation day on the second week of February. To prepare for that, some of you have already chosen a poem. If you have not chosen a poem, you can choose one from the following list:

  • All the World’s a Stage
  • Woman Work
  • The Walloping Window-blind
  • A Song of Greatness (A Chippewa song)
  • There is no Frigate like a Book
  • Sympathy
  • Lift Every Voice and Sing
  • If
  • A Psalm of Life
  • The Solitary Reaper
  • To an Athlete Dying Young
  • Loveliest of Trees
  • On First Looking into Chapman’s Homer

Once you have chosen a poem, message me and I will let you know if no one else has chosen it.

If you have already chosen your poem you can move on to the activity.

  1. On your notebook, write out the definition of every word in the poem that you are uncertain of.
  2. Watch the Youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdFFWeyfLTg" target="_blank">“How To Memorize a Poem”
  3. Write out your poem in your notebook and read it aloud.
