Titus 3:4-5 “But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit”
Kindness is often mistaken for softness. In the Bible, it’s a sign of God’s strength
What God’s Kindness Really Is
Psalm 103:8-10 “The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.”
1. God restrains judgment.
2. God treats us better than we deserve.
3. Kindness is mercy in action.
God’s kindness is not weakness- it’s patience.
Kindness Leads Us to Change
Romans 2:4 “...God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance…”
1. God’s kindness is meant to change us.
2. Grace is not permission to stay the same.
Kindness is an invitation to become transformed.
Our Kindness Toward God
Micah 6:8 “ He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you but to do justly, To love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?”
1. We respond to God’s kindness with humility
2. Obedience is gratitude lived out.
Repentance is how we say ‘thank you’ to God
Call to Action
Identify 1 habit God is asking you to change.
Colossians 3:12 “Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering, bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.”
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for you kindness toward me. Thank you that your kindness has called me to become transformed. Help me to respond to your kindness by repenting and turning my life toward you.
