2. He traveled to London to make a living as a writer and a playwright. Draw a red line from Stratford-upon-
Avon to London.
3. Shakespeare’s famous theater, the Globe, put on productions of many of his plays including Macbeth. The
Globe Theater is located in London. Draw an orange box around London.
4. Macbeth killed Duncan so that Macbeth could be King of Scotland. Color Scotland yellow.
5. King Duncan made Macbeth Thane of Cawdor as a reward for defeating the rebels. Circle Cawdor in
brown.
We will make eye of newt soup from Macbeth:
Make Eye-of-Newt Soup
The three weird women concoct spells in their bubbling cauldron. Make your own eye-of-newt soup. As you
go, read the following adaptation from Macbeth (Act 4, Scene 1). Add the ingredients at the appropriate time.
(Note: Do not add the “baboon’s blood”—that is to be drunk at the end of the poem.) It is really fun to put
the ingredients in glass jars and label them with their fictitious names (i.e., “eye of newt,” “tooth of wolf”).
Ingredients: Fingers—tootsie rolls Owlet’s wing—mini marshmallows
Eye of newt—chocolate chips Scale of dragon—smarties
Tongue of dog—red licorice Tooth of wolf—candy corn
Lizard’s leg—pretzel sticks Gall of goat—raisins
Also:
A cup of baboon’s blood—Grape juice or cranberry juice
Read the poem. When you get to each ingredient, put it in a big pot and stir the soup with a
big wooden spoon!
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.
Round about the cauldron go;
In the severed fingers throw.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the cauldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder’s fork and blind-worm’s sting,
Lizard’s leg and owlet’s wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hot broth boil and bubble.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and cauldron bubble.
Scale of dragon, tooth of wolf,
Witches’ mummy, maw and gulf
Of the ravined salt-sea shark,
Gall of goat removed in the dark.
Now drink a cup of baboon’s blood,
Then the charm is firm and good.
