What has been most important for your student's success this year?
Anchor is like a different child. I tell everyone that he is thriving because he is this model has helped him come to life. I believe it’s building confidence in him that he didn’t have before. He’s getting friendships and connections and truly learning things he’s actually interested in.
What aspects of the school have contributed most to your student's growth?
All of the above.
Areas where student felt most supported
Academic Instruction Classical Curriculum Teacher Communication Spiritual Formation Community Culture Organization Logistics

Beginning of Year

What do you wish you had known at the beginning of the year?
I wish I understood that there would be a lot of communication within the app of GroupMe versus this app. As a parent that works full-time and is the main parent homeschooling it would be a lot easier if this app was where things were communicated.
Areas that were clear from the start
Academic Expectations Assessment Grading
What was unclear or confusing at the start?
Being new to homeschooling as a public school parent the grading aspect is what I felt unclear about it is much easier than I expected, which is great but I wanna make sure that he is on par with public school. I wanna put him on a track to be able to go to college if wanted and just make sure we’re at that level.

At-Home Learning

How prepared did you feel to support at-home learning?
Somewhat Prepared
Areas where you felt most prepared
Daily Expectations Teacher Communication
Areas where you felt less prepared
As we’ve gone on the year, I feel more understanding of what he needs to do when he’s home. The app really does help a lot and I’m really grateful for it. It makes things very clear however, I didn’t realize one of his books that he had was just the textbook and not The lesson plan so more communication on that would be great.

Support

What support from the school has been most helpful?
When they pulled me aside and told me that he was behind in a few areas in math, especially in having the extra support from teachers and Jenn pulling him and doing study halls, I really appreciated that so much and I’ve seen such growth in Anchor because of it.
What additional support would be helpful?

Curriculum

Which curriculum areas have been strongest?
Bible and history
Which areas have been most challenging?
Math it’s extremely difficult. I’m not the best at teaching math so having tools for me to help him would be great.
How well does the workload balance with family life?
Well

Looking Ahead

What should we continue to strengthen?
I really like the idea of a study hall with a teacher that can help with homework on Fridays.
