Assignment Description

Hello and welcome to literature class :) You have a couple of activities to fulfill for this class. If you managed to read the essay that is attached here on Friday, do both of the activities. If you did not get to read it on Friday, then only do Activity One.

ACTIVITY ONE:

1. Bring out the essay “Sometimes Fairy Stories May Say Best What’s to be Said” by C.S. Lewis. Reread through it quickly and pick one phrase that resonates with you. Write it on your notebook.

2. Answer the following questions in your notebook:

2A. Have you ever felt the ‘impulse of an Author’ to create something? Describe that instance (it could have happened with many forms, not just necessarily writing! Robotics, crafts, comics, and even a Minecraft build are all Forms)

2B. Describe the Form you chose for that creation, and what you find so appealing about it (ie: rhyming in poetry, texture and repetitiveness in knitting…)

ACTIVITY TWO:

1. Watch the YouTube video “C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien on the power of Fiction”. (You can finish watching on minute 13)

2. As you watch it, listen closely and pick one phrase that resonates with you. Write it down in your notebook.
