Assignment Description

•Review/Recall Royal Proclamation motivations/effects:
-No settling West of Appalachians (idea by Prime Minister George Grenville)
-Why would this space reduction and institution of borders bother the colonists?
•Review/Recall Sugar Act motivations/effect:
-Crackdown on Colonial smuggling.
-Taxes were actually reduced, but they were also finally enforced.
-Caused Military Trials, meaning no jury!
-Why would these changes bother the colonists?
•Currency Act meant no more printing their own money, meaning less control on their own economy.
•Stamp Act required tedious purchase of stamps, which would raise the price of many goods and services. The colonists simply refused.
•The Quartering Act was also a form of extended taxation because the colonial governments were forced to spend colonial money on creating barracks for and supporting British soldiers who had been shipped there because of the previous war.
