Reviewing Ancient Greece

This week we are narrowing our focus from the broader ancient world to Greece specifically. Students will review early Greek civilization (the Minoans and Mycenaeans), the Bronze Age trade network, the collapse of Mediterranean civilizations, the Greek Dark Ages, and the migrations that led to the rise of Athens, Sparta, and Ionia. We will also revisit key Greek ideas such as fate and freedom, citizenship in the polis, competition in athletics and drama, the use of reason in science, philosophy, and themes from Homer. Students will organize all of this learning by creating mind maps that show how these events and ideas are connected.
