Assignment Description
In this lesson, students worked on drafting their full literary analysis essays on Oedipus Rex with a focus on both strong ideas and clear, beautiful expression. After reviewing proper essay structure, including introductions, body paragraphs, and conclusions, students spent extended class time writing from their completed outlines while receiving individual teacher feedback on thesis clarity, use of evidence, and depth of insight. Students then participated in guided peer review, reading one another’s work and offering thoughtful suggestions to strengthen clarity, specificity, and support. The goal of the lesson was to help students move from planning to polished writing while learning how collaboration refines both thinking and communication.
