•Read Land of Hope, the last two paragraphs on page 38.
•Watch the video about the Royal Proclamation of 1763.
•Discuss:
-Why did Britain issue the Royal Proclamation of 1763 after the war and what problem was it trying to solve?
-How might colonists, especially those hoping to move west, have reacted to being told they could no longer settle on the lands they considered theirs by right?
-If you were living at that time would the promise of “safety and order” be enough to make you accept the Proclamation, or would your desire for expansion opportunity overcome it?
-How would you feel about being *forced* to house military and law enforcement in your homes, provide food and supplies?
