Assignment Description
* Students read the Messenger scene (lines 1000–1300) where the truth about Oedipus’s birth begins to be revealed.
* We discussed anagnorisis (recognition) and how Oedipus slowly moves from relief to fear as he realizes the prophecy is unfolding.
* Students explored the theme of "truth vs. comfortable ignorance", especially through Jocasta’s reaction.
* Class discussion focused on the "cost of knowing the truth" and whether truth always brings healing.
