Assignment Description
On the second day, students shift from empire to covenant, exploring how Abraham’s relationship with God forms the foundation of a people united by faith rather than force. Reading The History of the Ancient World and Genesis 12–17, they trace the promises between God and Abraham—land, descendants, and blessing—and Abraham’s response of trust and obedience. Through discussion and reflection, students contrast Sargon’s empire of control with Abraham’s community of faith, considering which kind of bond—power or promise—creates lasting stability and hope for the future.
