Faith & Philosophy
Both me and my husband grew up going to church, learning about Christ, and truly never remember a point in our lives where we didn’t know of God’s love. We both have had specific salvation experiences where we trusted in Christ alone for salvation. Though we grew up in and around the church we believe these experiences were our own. We know our salvation is also, while on earth, a continual process of sanctification instead of just one moment in time. We became Christians at a young age and our journeys haven’t been perfect, but oh how sweet it has been to know and trust Jesus for so long and for him to be the anchor of our hope and the legacy of our family.
We desire for our daughter, and hopefully our other children, to have a school experience that is biblical and holistic. We desire as a family to be deeply involved in their education day in and day out, while also inviting other christian voices to educate in ways we cannot. We are seeking admission to Saints Classical this year for our daughter to participate in the Pre-K enrichment program to expose her to more school ahead of Kindergarten and for our family to gain more exposure to the classical model of education to see if it is a good fit for us.
In our home and daily activities we work to incorporate faith in every way we can. We make reading bible stories a priority and our girls love to practice memorizing and reciting scripture they have learned at church and we try to fill our home with worship music. We also try to make it a priority to expose our kids to how we, as parents, study scripture and try to make sure they see us with our Bibles as often as possible as a way to stir up the same desire within them.
We hope that Saints Classical will provide a safe and fun Christ centered environment for learning. We hope that Saints will cultivate a love for learning in our child, and provide teachers and mentors who our child looks up to. We hope that Saints will help our child develop lasting friendships and a broader community for our family. Above all we hope that Saints will come alongside our family in teaching our kids how to love the Lord and honor Him in everything they say and do.
Our understanding of Christian classical education is that it is a learning model that integrates a biblical worldview into all subjects and is mainly concerned with liberal arts. The classical model uses a unique method that teaches students, but teaches them how to learn. It uses methods like memorization, critical thinking, and communication.
As a family we aim to look more like Jesus tomorrow than we do today. We strive to anchor our lives on the Word of God, and fill our lives with community that points us to the Lord. We prioritize our relationships with the Lord and each other above all else. We commit to share the gospel with those we encounter and make our home a city on a hill so that others may also give glory to our God. As parents we believe we are the primary disciple makers of our children, and it is our job to parent our children in a way that points them to Jesus that they may by His grace give their lives to him and love and serve Him all of their days.

Virginia Mayo Pre-K → Kindergarten
Virginia is an energetic, fun, sweet, and tender girl. She loves to play pretend, do arts and crafts, ride her scooter and bike outside, and she loves music. Virginia is the oldest of three kids in our family and she cares deeply for her younger brother and sister and has a very generous and protective instinct. She is a great friend and is always very eager to participate and be a helper. She is inquisitive and naturally curious, always asking good questions to further her understanding of things.
Virginia is a very eager student. She has participated in two years of a mothers day out program and has truly thrived. We have additionally done some light preschool homeschool at home the last year and she loves doing school at home. She almost daily will ask if we can do more school at home and loves doing learning activities, especially when they involve crafts or music and song.
For her age Virginia responds well to discipline from us. As any 3/4 year old she tests the limits to the rules we have put in place, so she is aware when she is in need of discipline. Virginia expresses her emotions well and usually tells us with her words how she is feeling when disciplined. When at home she sometimes needs alone time to recover from discipline or punishment, but I don’t usually see this being the case when disciplined outside of our home. Overall she responds age appropriately to our correction and discipline.
Virginia will be 4 years old on June 21st and we are seeking admission to the one day Pre-K enrichment program at Saints Classical. We hoping this enrichment program will give her some more school like experience and aid in preparing her for Kindergarten.
