Faith & Philosophy
The Lord, Jesus Christ, is our savior, redeemer, and the foundation of this family. Sean and I both believe strongly in the importance of maintaining a relationship with Jesus in very personal ways through scripture, prayer, discernment, and community. Every decision we make for this family is founded on prayer and discernment. Our girls both know Jesus as their personal savior and are growing in their own relationships with Jesus. We are a family that is fully committed to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Katie is my rising 6th grader. As we enter into the Middle School years, I know the beauty of having a variety of Christ-loving adults pouring into my children will reap a beautiful harvest. She learns well under the Classical model. Elizabeth also learns well under the Classical model, just hasn't had as much experience being a rising First Grader. The layout of Saints Academy being 2-day tutorial with 3 at home days is a great appeal to our family.
I can't really put into words how faith in incorporated into our family's daily activities....because faith is the foundation. I could talk about the memory verses, the prayers, the psalm 23 bedtime routine, the worship music, etc. However, the main way we incorporate our faith in daily activities is we are just always talking about Jesus. Talking about what He is teaching or showing us, how this or that applies to what we see in scripture, what do your think the disciples thought about when Jesus said this, etc. We attend to Jesus in all of our activities - constantly watching for Him and trying to notice Jesus on every page in scripture and in every room we enter.
We are looking to partner with a school that will join us in raising our girls in truth and wisdom. Using the classical model and a Christocentric view on all the subjects and every aspect of their lives.
My understanding of the Classical model is to train the whole child ---heart, mind, and character---by teaching the material in a way that the children naturally learn at their age. And the Christian Classical Model takes the Classical model and incorporates the truth and philosophy of how God being creator is found in every part of ALL their studies.
Our philosophy is to raise children who know and love God, live with integrity, are compassionate and courageous, & know how to live boldly for their Lord.

Katie attended K through 3rd at Agathos Classical when the Lord called us into homeschooling. The last two years we have been homeschooling with Classical Conversations. The Classical model is a wonderful model. We did not have a negative experience with Agathos nor with CC. However, when I look to the future, I truly feel that a 2-day drop-off tutorial will provide so much more relational-equity for my girls. I know it will help my relationship with both of my girls to outsource some of the educational pieces of the process. But I also understand that there will be much fruit for both of them with other Christian adults pouring into them, other like-minded families in their community, and just having a place to build trust, goodwill, and emotional capital over time through consistency and care.
Katie is smart, kind, athletic, funny, and overall just the best. She loves learning and is a sponge. Outside of her studies, she has an interest in Jiu Jitsu, piano, swimming, and watching her Greenbay Packers or Auburn Tigers play football. Last and certainly not least, she has loves to read. Currently, her favorite series include Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, City Spies, and Keeper of the Lost Cities.
Katie enjoys learning and is so enthusiastic in the classroom. She has a solid work ethic for her age and rarely gives me a hard time about tending to her studies. She has a great attitude about her curriculum and often sees her struggles as challenges and can push herself forward. She can be a bit of a perfectionist which does put some unneeded pressure on herself. But the beauty of homeschooling is that I get to walk her through those pressures and help her understand the truth.
When we have to discipline Katie, she is usually very tearful and sad because she has already been hard on herself. Katie learns from her mistakes and rarely do we have to attend the same disciplinary issues over and over with Katie.
Katie loves learning and loves making friends. I'm encouraged for a tutorial that can offer Katie both a wonderful education and a strong group of Christ-loving friends.

Elizabeth is spunky, funny, loyal, a rule follower, and overall just the best. She is very interested in Jiu Jitsu, piano, and anything else that her big sister is doing. She has recently learned to read and LOVES Mo Willems books. Elizabeth has a fun competitive nature and enjoys to race on Mario Kart. She also enjoys snuggling on the couch with a good movie, playing ANY board game or card game, and playing with her dogs.
Elizabeth has had a wonderful start to her education and truly loves to learn. She is excited for all things reading and math. It has been so fun to watch Elizabeth learn and to see her get so excited for new skills. She will wake up and get right to school because "it is just so fun, mommy".
Elizabeth is my child who will try and hold her own when I'm disciplining her. This can look like explaining her side, yelling or even stomping her feet. However, this is how she responds to me....and it is ALWAYS because she thinks she hasn't been heard or seen. I know for a fact, this is not how she would respond to anyone else.
I'm very encouraged for how a drop-off will offer Elizabeth some independence. I believe she will truly shine at SCA.
