Faith & Philosophy

My husband and I both grew up in Christian households. I had a Christian education k-12. We were both baptized in adulthood and we are actively raising our children with Christian values. We are members of Central Christian Church.

Our primary reason for seeking admission to Saints is because we feel it is the answer to our prayers. We feel it would provide balance we have been praying for.

We have several daily things that help us focus on our faith. We have a morning prayer we say every morning before we leave the driveway. We often discuss the meaning of that prayer and why we pray (our children are young, 6 & 4 so its ground level). In times of chaos, my husband often ground ourselves in prayer. We often include our children when we do a devotional. When either of my children get hurt, I find that a small prayer with them in those times of uncertainty are precious. We also almost solely listen to worship songs when we are on the road.

Academically, our goal would be that the pressures would subside and that a joy for learning would emerge. Spiritually, our goal is to simply continue to point her to Christ. Socially, our goal would be that she continues to develop a love of people, that she develops strong friendships, and we become a community in which we can serve and love on others.

We are currently at Agathos Classical School and are very familiar with the classical model.

Our parenting philosophy is that we have been entrusted by God to raise our children through example and daily actions. It is our responsibility as parents to steward our children towards faith and obedience in God. Our goal is to raise adults who have integrity, self control, discernment, and the joy of the Lord.

We are changing schools because we feel our current situation does not meet the needs we have as a family. We need less anxiety in our house and our current school elicits a lot of stress and anxiety.

Ruby is very sweet with a bit of a wild side. She enjoys animals and often talks of wanting to a be a veterinarian or a farmer. She participates in caring for our chickens, dogs, and cat. She loves the outdoors, yet is very risk adverse. She enjoys imaginative play, planning parties, playing rough with her younger brother, dressing up, and putting on performances to whomever will watch.

Ruby has had some struggles with focus academically. She is more science and math driven than reading and writing. We have had many struggles with homework, mainly due to exhaustion and fatigue from being in class all day and/or distraction. We recently implemented a metronome and that seems to help. She works incredibly hard and does excellent work when we can harness her focus.

She is usually very understanding and accepting of discipline. We explain as much as possible and generally like to rely on natural consequences.
