Faith & Philosophy

My husband and I both gave our lives to Jesus as teenagers through powerful encounters with Jesus. We both went to ministry school in Dallas, and were pastoral staff at a local church there for the past 12 years. Our lives have always been surrendered to Jesus but it feels the last few years there has been a greater level of surrender and honestly we hope that never ends. We desire to live fully surrendered forever… and pray that our children see this and they in return will live fully surrendered from very young ages.

Our daughter has been going to public school for kindergarten and it’s been going well but at Christmas break we saw how much more joy she had being home with us. My husband and I both began to wonder and pray if she would thrive more being homeschooled. As we’ve prayed we’ve felt a desire rise up to have her home with us more and also to help integrate Christianity deeper into her learning. She’s so hungry for it and we recognize that but with her being gone most of the day and having no hand in her education we can’t integrate that into her learning as much as we’d desire to.

We pray with them every day, teaching them how to pray on their own to Jesus as well as how to pray for others. We also set aside time each night to teach them how to sit and listen for the voice of God. We’re a musical family so we always have worship on or are worshipping as a family daily. Lastly we read the bible to our girls, but our daughter has recently started attempting to read the bible on her own as we do our quiet time in the morning.

Our hope is to have a better balance of being at school and being at home. Our daughter is incredibly social and we know multiple families who attend Saints which has made her excited with the opportunity to attend with her friends from church. She also loves to learn so we’re excited to be much more involved in what and how she is learning and getting the opportunity to be directly involved in her education. Lastly, we are hoping her relationship and knowledge of Jesus will grow as she attends Saints.

Our understanding of a Christian, classical education is the education is challenging, full of a lot of classic literature and memorization but every subject has Christ woven into it. She will be learning biblical world views along with every subject.

We want to parent them with the character of Jesus as best as we can. We attempt to show them patience and tenderness while giving proper discipline when necessary.

We are desiring to be more I evolved in her education. We also want her to be able to be home with us more as a family and can’t wait to weave Christ into all she learns.

Isabella is full of joy and loves to make friends everywhere she goes. Her current teacher informed us “she lacks no friends”. She loves to learn and is very inquisitive. She loves music, reading and drawing/art. Isabella is a rule follower but loves to be silly when the time is right.

Isabella is a very hard worker. So far school has been very easy for her so we would love for her to be more challenged in this up coming year. As we already stated, she loves to read and always wants to know the why behind everything. I won’t lie and says she loves homework but she is disciplined so as soon as she gets home from school she finishes her homework and does her reading before doing anything else. She loves to feel proud of her work so she always tries her best from the beginning of any assignment she works on.

She will change her actions quickly to avoid being disciplined again. She can also, at times, get sad if she gets disciplined harshly in front of others.

Nothing I can think.
